We are a gauge manufacturer with over 10 years of success and growth in the extremely competitive global gauge market. All of our speedometers are designed and assembled in the USA at our Utah factory. We sell direct to the performance enthusiasts, and many OEMs all over the world.
Does Speedhut manufacture the Speedometers?
Yes- we continually strive to stay ahead of the competition with innovative design, solid engineering, while manufacturing all of our speedometers in the USA at our facility. Our engineering team and production team work closely together to ensure quality throughout manufacturing process. Because speedometer development and production is all done at the same location we have the ability to quickly meet our customers needs and with a price much lower than our competition.
We manufacture and sell direct the following speedometer types
NO- There are basically 3 different types of speedometers currently offered on the market. Speedhut also introduced a 4th GPS type explained below.
1. Mechanical
These types use a cable that runs from the transmission into the back of the speedometer. They are usually in-expensive but require fumbling around with the small gears on the transmission speedometer sensor to get the calibration right for different gear ratios or tire sizes. This type is also prone to mechanical breakage over time. Cables wear out and become sticky and stop working.
2. Electronic (dip switch)
These types of speedometers do not rely on a cable to run the speedometer, but instead use an electrical pulse signal that is passed to the speedometer. The user calibrates the speedometer to a specific pulse per mile setting by selecting different dip switches on the speedometer. The problem with this type, is the lack of options for the pulses per mile setting. In many cases the user can not find the correct setting for the speedometer to read accurately.
3. Electronic (programmable-Speedhut)
These types of speedometers allow the user to set exactly the number of pulses per mile, by driving the car over a known distance or some other method to calibrate the speedometer. A programmable chip within the speedometer stores the correct setting. This type is more flexible than both mechanical or electrical dip switch types, because it will work with many electronic sensors and pulse ranges. Speedhut offers this type of speedometer on our NON GPS units. Once calibrated, they read very accurately no matter what gear ratios or tire sizes.
4. GPS Speedometers (Speedhut GPS)
We introduced this type of speedometer to eliminate the speed sensor all together. This exciting new type of speedometer does not require any transmission sensor and instead relies on GPS satellites to indicate the speed. Installation is extremely easy and only requires 12 volts power and ground. This type is great for applications where there is NO transmission sensor present or the user wants the simplicity of just wiring up 12volts and ground. Our GPS types of speedometers are used in all types of applications from farm equipment to bonneville salt flats racers.
Speedhut's personal guaranty to you
We work hard to efficiently and effectively meet our customer's unique requirements for customizable instrumentation products. We understand that our customers want the very best for their application. Therefore, they deserve the very best in customer service. Big quality, small industry footprint results in that better personal service. And because each gauge is assembled at our own production facility, Speedhut can provide excellent quality OEM gauges private-labeled with your company logo, quickly and economically.
We are proud to offer the longest warranty in the gauge industry, with a Life-time warranty on all gauge electronics and a 5 year warranty on all mechanical hardware.
Revolution gauges feature shift lights and setable warning lights. Pressure transducers (most accurate) are used for all pressure gauges. See Revolution Gauges.
Legacy gauges feature more classic gauge looks without warning lights and shift lights. Just like the revolution series pressure transducers are used for all pressure gauges.
Speedhut gauges are our introductory line without warning lights or shift lights and utilize a lower cost pressure sensor for the pressure gauges.
We are Speedhut. What can we do for you that's new and exciting?
