About Speedhut Boost Products

boost gauges

Are all boost gauges the same?

NO- There are basically 2 different types of boost gauges currently offered on the market. All of Speedhut's boost gauges are the electronic type.

1. Mechanical
These types of boost gauges are the least expensive and are the most readily available on the market today. Their accuracy varies from really bad (10%) to quite good (2%). These gauges usually all have a full 270 degree sweep gauge face. The boost air psi is fed directly into the back of the gauge through a small air line. This can be a problem over time as the boost psi line can break or leak. The mechanical boost gauge eventually will wear out as the gauge movement is cycled many times over years and loose their accuracy. This type of boost gauge will also suffer from pointer bounce in higher vibration applications, making the gauge hard to read.

2. Electronic (Speedhut)
These types of boost gauges use a small microprocessor to move the gauge needle around. A small electronic circuit board within the gauge reads the voltage signal from the pressure MAP sensor and sends the voltage to the gauge head. Air leaks are never a problem, because the boost psi air pressure is kept at the MAP sensor and not sent all the way back to the gauge head. Also, depending on the accuracy of the pressure MAP sensor, these gauges can be as accurate or better than the mechanical type. Speedhut uses a 1.5% accurate pressure transducer for all of our boost gauges yielding the most accurate gauge readings. A stepper motor gauge movement is used to move the pointer around the gauge. this gauge movement can withstand much more vibration than the mechanical gauge movements and will not cause pointer bounce. They do cost more than the mechanical gauge type, but this cost is quickly offset by the longevity and accuracy of the gauge.

life time warrantyWe are proud to offer the longest warranty in the gauge industry, with a Life-time warranty on all gauge electronics and a 5 year warranty on all mechanical hardware.

revolution gauges

Revolution gauges feature shift lights and setable warning lights. Pressure transducers (most accurate) are used for all pressure gauges. See Revolution Gauges.

Legacy Gauges

Legacy gauges feature more classic gauge looks without warning lights and shift lights. Just like the revolution series pressure transducers are used for all pressure gauges.

Speedhut gauges

Speedhut gauges are our introductory line without warning lights or shift lights and utilize a lower cost pressure sensor for the pressure gauges.
